AMA – Accademia Mendrisio Alumni

To celebrate USI’s 25th anniversary, USI alumnae and alumni were invited back on campus, in Mendrisio and Lugano, to meet professors, attend a lecture, review USI’s history and achievements until today, and share development plans for the future.

Above all, alumni were invited to celebrate together the first quarter of a century of our University and of the alumni community, which counts today more than 10’000 graduates.

Welcome with Monica Duca Widmer, President of the University Council and to follow there will be Prof. Boas Erez, USI Rector, Prof. Arch. Walter Angonese, Director of the Academy of Architecture, Prof. Arch. Riccardo Blumer, Former Director of the Academy of Architecture they will talk about USI today and tomorrow and the role of the Academy in “shaping the future”.

To follow meeting with Prof. Sonja Hildebrand, Pro-Rector for Research in the Humanities and Equal Opportunities and her colleagues, Prof. Francesca Torzo, Arch. Denise Scott Brown and Arch. Hope Strode for a talk about the Role of female architects.

A Dialog on the role in contemporary society of the over 2200 alumni architects from Academy of Architecture will be held by Arch. Mario Botta, Professor emeritus Academy of Architecture & Arch. Francesco Di Gregorio, President AMA - Alumni Mendrisio Association.

To end the day guided tour of the new Teatro dell’architettura and its expositions with Arch. Riccardo Blumer, Former Director, Academy of Architecture, Prof. Arch. Marco Della Torre, Academic Coordinator & Bruno Pedretti, Lecturer and Researcher.
